UGH. I’ve mostly restrained myself from hateblogging but… man am I glad I don’t touch the YJ fandom with a 10-pole stick. I think the terribleness of the Avatar fandom conditioned me to avoid like ALL fandoms like the plague.

This “fandom” sounds like a hatedom, just like like the Avatar hatedom before it.

- Chris Traeger as Captain Marvel? EVERYTHING SUDDENLY MAKES SENSE. I could not help but laugh at everything he said.
- You go YJ! Teach those kids about being “patronizing” and showing mutual respect in relationships. :D And of course Conner’s apology at the end melted my heart.
- JUNGLES JUNGLES JUNGLES 
-  Am I the only one who was distracted by hearing a Screaming Piha (a bird from the Central & South American jungles) sing in the India scenes? The answer is “yes.”
- Kaldur’s leadership arc — can I just say how blown away I am by the show including a character arc with that kind of precision and grace?
- Loved the M’gann + Artemis scenes.
- Wally was actually pretty likable in this episode for a change.
- The Brain’s design was awesome. I thought he was much creepier than he was in Teen Titans.
- JUNGLES JUNGLES JUNGLES ANIMALS ANIMALS ANIMALS
- lol Supes adopting the Wolf. I kinda wished it was the tiger, but D’AWWW.
- OVERALL: such natural and amazing character & relationship development, UGH.

Her comment was really relevant: “Maybe this is what Artemis sees when she looks in the mirror”.

So, like, half the fandom is all BUT WHEN DO WE GET ANOTHER ROBIN EPISODE? NEEDS MOAR ROBIN!!1! and I’m all FUCK ROBIN; NEEDS MORE ARTEMIS. (lololol, sorry, Rob. I’m just not that into you.) Everything we know thus far of her backstory is so, um, what’s a good word for this—tantalizing? Engrossing? All-consuming? ALL OF THOSE WORDS, AND MORE. Why did she turn her back on the Shadows? What did it cost her to do so? When and why did she approach Green Arrow? Does she respect him, like him, want his approval? Does she miss her mother? Does she miss her sister? What does she want?

Love the composition of this piece: all the shadows, the cloth wrapped around her mouth and held back by Cheshire (her sister), how she looks stiffly forward and does not acknowledge Cheshire’s presence but for the fingers she’s placed to pull the cloth away, Cheshire looking at Artemis, how both their faces are hidden. Looooooooove.

(Artemis’ eyes are dark brown, tho’. I know the blue eyes from the promotional images are probably engrained in fandom’s consciousness now, but: they’re definitely brown.)

After Dick grows up a little, Kaldur’ahm should be like ‘OK ROBIN YOU CAN LEAD’ and then Robin is like ‘YOU’RE THE LEADER DUH’ and that will be the end up of this fail of a storyline.

I mean just.

LOOK IF THE WANTED ROBIN TO BE THE LEADER. FINE. IT’S YOUNG JUSTICE. ROBIN BEING A LEADER DOESN’T COME FROM NOWHERE.

BUT INSTEAD THEY HAVE KALDUR’AHM BE A PERFECT LEADER FOR THE TEAM. BATMAN EVEN PRAISES THE TEAM FOR CHOOSING HIM. BUT IT’S ALL FOR NAUGHT. BECAUSE IT’S ROBIN’S ~DESTINY~ TO LEAD.

DO THEY JUST WANT TO TEAR DOWN THE BLACK MAN - WHO BTW IS THE ONLY LEAD WHO IS A CHARACTER OF COLOR (UNTIL WE GET ARTEMIS) - TO BUILD UP ROBIN (BECAUSE LORD KNOWS DICK FUCKING GRAYSON DOESN’T HAVE ENOUGH PLACES TO SHINE IN THE MEDIA)?

I JUST DON’T GET IT.

I LEGIT DON’T UNDERSTAND THIS ANGLE.

Also, Dick serves a good role being the hacker. And it’s a very fresh twist to see a character who has the most experience be one of the least capable of leading, in part because of that experience.

And, you know, he’s the baby of the team. Why write him as thirteen and very immature if you want to make him the leader? I mean, yeah, there’s something to be said about having a character grow into maturity.

But there would be more genuine on Dick’s part if he doesn’t lead. He assumed he was the leader without talking to anyone about it. Him growing to accept that he doesn’t need to be a leader to get Batman’s approval or to be a great hero would be good and honest development.

If Kaldur (the sole black dude) bites it to make way for Robin (white dude) to assume leadership (and to give Robin driving angst) at the end of the season, I swear to God I will eat a box of nails for the sole purpose of spitting them in rage.

My eyes rolled right out of my head at this bit omfg.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Robin and everything, but fuck Robin.

There is no reason in the world that Kaldur’s leadership of the team should be presented EVEN FOR A SECOND as some sort of placeholder until holy chosen one Robin can lead them. Fuck the idea that Robin is ~destined~ to take over FOR ANY REASON, fuck this bit of dialogue, fuck any passing the torch storyline that ever occurs, and, since it’s me, let’s just note: fuck destiny always and forever.

Also: I’ve never really liked Robin that much, and on this show he’s like an obnoxious kid brother. =/ Whereas Aqualad? EYEHEARTS FOREVER.
