My art tablet finally arrived! I went with a medium-sized Wacom Intuos.
A special thanks to @amiraelizabeth, @rosesmusings, @queenofthecute, and @pheonee for their most kind and helpful advice!
So, I tried it out for the first time last night, and here are the results. I fully admit the above picture… is… terrible (and I’m sure you can tell a few of the ways in which I “cheated”). But, I had two simple goals: (1) learn how to use the tablet before I do much in the way of “proper art,” and (2) create a little “card” in honor of my nephew’s birthday. I have tons of nieces and nephews, and today happens to be this one’s birthday! He just turned 5, and he rather likes meteorology (I’m not kidding, he has quite the technical knowledge of the weather) and cheetahs and cellos and such.
So… there you have it. There’s my first test run of the tablet.

(Art Tablet advice, continued)
rosesmusings replied to your post: Art Tablet advice?
I use a Wacom Bamboo - they’re quite nice and not terribly expensive!
amiraelizabeth reblogged this from the-fox-bandit and added:
Wacom tablets are…best. If doing drawing invest in at least an intuous
Thanks, Amira & Kayley. Wacom does seem like the way to go.
Amira, I will be drawing.
How do the Bamboo/Intuous compare in terms of my “precision/dexterity” goal?
It sounds like the Intuous is better for that than the Bamboo?

Art Tablet advice?
I was wondering if any of the fine individuals on my flist — artists such as @queenofthecute, @wecansexy, @pheonee, etc., etc. (I apologize if I forgot you/you’re not in that list!) — had any advice on selecting an art tablet for my PC desktop.
(1) I do have photoshop & illustrator, for whatever that’s worth.
(2) My interest in the art tablet is obviously the dexterity offered by using a digital pen rather than having to use the mouse. That precise control, you know.
I just feel sort of overwhelmed with all the options out there, and ANY input you guys might have would be deeply appreciated.

If Ocarina of Time was a Children’s Book
It’s an art project from Vikki Chu who was tasked with reinterpreting something as a children’s story. She chose the Ocarina of Time, which I think we can all agree is a pretty great decision.
She works her way through the plot of the game in ten images, the rest of which you can see above, and any you can blow up to pretty much wallpaper size. Good work Vikki, and keep making video game art!(via glamaphonic)

Changed his name to Antonio. He is an the supervisor in an office and none of his employees respect him. His dream is to be a sky-diver but that’s never happening.
So my fannish interpretation of him was semi-accurate???

Been working on the model sheet for this guy all day.
Reblogging myself to ask for opinions on this guy?
He looks fantastic! I feel like he’s a bored cubicle drone who secretly wishes he was out there… outside having fantastic adventures in the jungle. He’s politely saying hi to me because he has to, but I see his gaze! HE IS REALLY LOOKING AT THE JUNGLE OUTSIDE THE WINDOW BEHIND ME (I am a jaguar btw). Uhhhhh I’d better stop before I write baseless fanfic of your character.
Only thing is I would add a tail? Those broad, fan-like tails toucans have. (Not really sure what kinds of opinions you’re looking for.)

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
